Personal Development
At Uffculme Primary School, we place a great emphasis on the Personal Development of our children as we feel this is every bit as important as their academic performance.
Today's children and young people are growing up in an increasingly complex world and living their lives seamlessly on and offline. This presents many positive and exciting opportunities, but also challenges and risks. In this environment, children and young people need to know how to be safe and healthy, and how to manage their academic, personal and social lives in a positive way.
Personal Development is weaved throughout school life which allows this crucial education to be delivered, lived and breathed by our children.
At our school, Personal Developmemt has six main pillars:
Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural Development
British Values
Relationship & Health Education (including PSHE)
Physical Development
Mental Wellbeing
Cultural Enrichment
Please find below examples of how these pillars are part of our day-to-day school life.
In September 2020, it became compulsory for all primary schools in England to educate their children in Relationship and Health Education, including age-appropriate Relationships and Sex Education.
An overview of this curriculum can be seen here. This curriculum covers both the compulsory requirements and also many more topics that will help aid our children with the information they need to support them both now and in their future life choices.
